Abriendo Los Ojos

"ABRIENDO LOS OJOS" is a documentary chronicling the lives of a group of Day Laborers in Oakland, California as they attempt to organize and petition city government for fair treatment. In the Fall of 2003 we followed a group of day laborers from the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland, Califonia as they made their way East to Washington D.C. where they lobbied their U.S. representatives in an attempt to help get a bill passed that would help their plight. Rick Gann and I started this project in 2003 and continue to follow the story.

We also created the Abriendo los Ojos website where you can learn more about this project and the incredible people that we have met.
